My name is Barbra, I have worked with animals since i was 12 years old, starting at a local Vet clinic, cleaning out cages and helping with the poorly animals. I worked my way up to managing the busy Reception, and enjoyed getting the odd opportunity to help with some veterinary procedures. Learning so much, including how to treat your pets for worms, fleas and other important issues that need to be addressed regularly.
At nearly 19 I started work at a boarding, breeding and showing kennels, here i learnt and studied huge amounts about every individual breed and their crosses, their genetics, their traits, their personalities and character. How each type/breed should be fed, and the necessary nutrition the individual animal needs, and lastly how much exercise some need... or don't need.
From here, I went on to become a Professional Dog Groomer.
In 2004 Tayla came my way. I currently had some select members of staff, who were great and we had a busy business growing nicely. Tayla soon became a valued member of staff and more than that, a family member.
For a long time now due to a change in premises, its just been Tayla and I. We learnt that our hearts are in the more holistic side of life and that dogs cope and need a quiet and calm environment to relax and enjoy their groom and treatments.
Working together so closely for nearly 20 years we have worked out different ways of handling our dogs together in a way that immediately calms and enables us to kindly and effectively complete any treatment. We dont even have to speak to each other. We just know and this so, so do the dogs.
We have recently welcomed Kayleigh to our Team. Kayleigh currently is still studying at school and helps on a Saturday and holidays, she is incredibly spiritual and passionate and proving to be a worthy, incredibly talented team member. Kayleigh has plans to join the team full time with an apprenticeship after her exams in June/July 2024.
All our knowledge is being passed on !!
While running my busy little business, I never like to sit back and just let it run its course. I feel its important to educate myself and keep learning about the changing world and new ways we can help our customers in their well being. Also in offering other services that will benefit and potentially help our customers, financially and for the health benefits.

Our aim is to create a sensitive place to bring your dog for a pleasurable grooming experience. A calm and loving environment , where we feel your dogs Health AND Mental Health is paramount.
Of course we want your pet to look and smell amazing, and we don't expect the more sensitive of souls , young or old to love the experience , but we really want them to be able to cope. Some of our treatments are vital to every dogs welfare , and necessary for every day life.
Every dog that walks through our door is treated as an individual. Some may gallop in dragging their owner, and some may sit and tremble at the mere thought of visiting us. How do they even know that when they are on their way to us ???? The same as when they go and sit by the window , or front door , waiting in anticipation 10 minutes before their person comes home from work, or the shops i suppose ?
So, due to their sensitivity , sixth sense , or whatever you want to call it we need to treat these animals accordingly. Every visit to us at Bespoke is to suit their individual needs.
With every visit from our customers, we come across many ailments , skin conditions, sore ears, flea infestations. etc. All incredibly common and normal. We have a trained eye to notice these things and are here to help as much as possible , with or range of natural remedies. Due to our work method we see every part of the dog and often come across lumps and bumps that are easily missed by their family. When and if we notice anything that needs attention we may be able to recommend a natural remedy , or we may recommend a trip to the vet. We try and save you from expensive and costly vet appointments , but we NEVER advise you not go to the vet. We are NOT veterinary trained and greatly appreciate the knowledge , and years of scientific education our vets have trained in. Everything we offer is only ' our opinion ' for you to decide what you do with .
I have to admit , that I am always incredibly humbled by the trust that all our customers have in our team. We appreciate greatly , just how scary and worrying it is to leave your beloved family member in our care for an hour or so. At the end of the day , these animals have no voice. But they do have a heart , a soul and feelings.
